A rare and unexpected cold snap hit Honduras the week of the dedication of our new school building. As we set up on the morning of the big event, instead of being greeted by a warm sunrise, we were met with clouds, wind, and a light mist. Our set up crew zipped up their jackets and tightened their scarves around their necks as they lined up chairs in neat rows, connected speaker and microphone cables, and secured a larger-than-life mural to the retaining wall. The whole school buzzed with excitement as Jubilee’s directors calmly oversaw the coming together of every pre-planned detail.
Perhaps it was a blessing to have it be a little chilly as we welcomed approximately 700 people onto our school grounds! Only the early arrivers were able to secure a seat, but the perimeter quickly filled with parents, students, and staff. The front rows were reserved for our special guests: supporters of the ministry from the United States and Honduras, and the construction manager and his family.
No amount of shivering could have detracted from the warmth in our hearts as we witnessed the procession of the dedication of our new school building to God. From the welcome, opening prayer, and time of praise and worship, to the words of blessing from our directors, construction manager, and partnering organizations, God’s name was exalted and given all the glory, honor, and praise. Just a couple years ago at our Jubilee event, we spoke of how God is able to do more than we could ever ask or imagine, and the completion of our new building is hard evidence of that fact. What started as just a vision–a dream–God turned into a reality by weaving together the hearts, minds, and resources of so very many people.
We thank you from the very depths of our hearts for being a part of our ministry. We thank you for allowing God to work in and through you so that the community of La Era might personally know and be able to attest to the mighty power of our amazing God. Thanks to your obedience and faithfulness, innumerable lives in and around the community of La Era have been and will be touched by the warmth of the Son for generations to come! Praise be to God!
