I am sad to say that this is my last post that I will be making as a summer intern for Jubilee. Wow! How fast three months have passed by. It seems like yesterday that I was arriving into Honduras, with the excitement to meet all the students at Jubilee. Over the last three months, I have spent my time receiving more hugs than I ever have. I am beyond thankful for the time that I was able to spend at the school, and for the lifelong family that I now have.
My responsibility as the intern for Jubilee looked different every single day. One of the main things that I worked on was photography and communication. Anytime that anyone saw me, it could be guaranteed that almost every time I had my camera on my side. Photography is something that I love, but it is something that I enjoy more when my pictures are able to tell stories without using words. It was an honor to be able to take pictures and capture the genuine smiles of the children. I am excited to see how Jubilee is able to use my pictures to share about Honduras and the school. At first, the kids were interested in the camera, but approached with caution and shyness. By the end of my three months with them, the kids were excited to see what I captured of them.
The other role dealt with English. I have a love for languages, as I am studying Foreign Language myself. However, I see the advantages that students have here in Honduras as they learn English. If the students here in Honduras are able to learn English, they have many more opportunities opened up to them. So as I was at Jubilee, I was able to tutor students in smaller groups than the classroom setting. Seeing the kids excited to learn English made my heart fill with joy. It is something that they might not see right now, but can be a huge opportunity for them in the future.
And to my family in Jubilee.. Thank you. Thank you for being so open and accepting of me. Thank you for allowing me to work alongside you, and thank you for being a great support. No matter where The Lord leads each of us after this, I am confident that I will one day be in Heaven with each of you.
And to my incredible Holy Father. You continue to amaze me. You use someone like me who is broken and not worthy of you, for incredible things to advance the kingdom. You strategically placed me in Jubilee for three months, and I will forever be thankful.
Hasta Pronto mis amores! Nos vemos pronto.
