Who better to feature than the teacher who has been serving with us since the inception of JCI, eight years ago? When we were looking for a way to start Jubilee, God orchestrated a “chance” meeting between David and his former high school classmate, Claudia Velasquez. She had experience in the field of education and happily joined us as our first PreK teacher and principal. She continued in these roles for many years, and she is now teaching full time while also over-seeing the administrative responsibilities of the pre-school. She is gifted in early childhood education and creative arts, a combination which makes her classroom a place filled with diverse and unique learning opportunities. Her students appreciate the safe, colorful, and loving atmosphere that she creates, and they joyfully receive her never-ending hugs!
Mrs. Velasquez lives in La Era with her husband Miguel and their two children, 13 year old Miguelito and 2 year old Jimena. They attend Jubilee’s church where Mrs. Velasquez continues to share her talents by serving with our Sunday school ministry and on the church Art committee. More recently, she has joined our new liturgical dance ministry where she is enjoying learning how to worship the Lord experientially. Mrs. Velasquez shares that she feels very blessed to both work and worship at Jubilee. She reports that she loves getting to serve in and support her home community while also being encouraged to grow spiritually as others minister to her.
When asked what her dreams are for her life, Mrs. Velasquez did not miss a beat in answering that more than anything else, she longs for her husband to come to know Christ. Right now, she is the one teaching their children how to walk with the Lord, and she is the one ministering to her husband, teaching him God’s truths. Mrs. Velasquez is so thankful for the Jubilee community for supporting her in the pursuit of her dream, and she asks for you to pray for her and her family that, together, they will grow in their relationship with Christ Jesus.
