It was during the first weekend of September that our team met in Honduras to lead the first ever Youth Camp “MAR K 2” (marked). It was intended to develop christian character in them based on 2 Peter 1-5-7; 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
The campers were conformed of a handful of Jubilee’s current 6th graders, 7th grade graduates, and older middle/high schoolers who are part of Jubilee’s church youth group.
To our surprise, we felt God taking over way before it started. Once we got there He just let us know that He will
take over and lead the camp. From day one we saw how God moved in the hearts of the young campers and they were able to experience God in a different way.
All activities took place outdoors, and they were challenging events to emphasize different character traits. They also learned about teamwork, decision making, faith, trust, sin and its consequences, above many other. Because; “if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Although the camp was intended for the young campers, the experiences also impacted many adults that attended and participated. We all experienced God like never before., and we are sure God will keep working in their hearts and lives.
We thank the Jubilee staff (Pastors David & Emily) for believing and making this come true. May the hearts and lives of these young leaders be “marked” forever. We will never forget it. Thanks!
