We are extremely grateful for all the work that our board of volunteers does on behalf of Jubilee and the children and families we reach in Honduras. As a small but growing ministry, we have a small but growing board. Our current board members are:
Paul Ippel, MSW – Board President: Paul is the former executive director for Network 180 (formerly Kent County Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Authority) in Grand Rapids, MI. He volunteers at Rehoboth Christian Schools, CompRenew, World Renew, American Red Cross, and Healthy Homes.
Joel Bosch, MS, CPA- Board Vice President: Joel is a certified public accountant. He earned an MS in accounting from Michigan State University and a BA in business from Calvin College. Joel is the controller at 42 North Partners in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was previously employed as an assurance manager at Ernst & Young.
Steve Wonch, MBA, Board Treasurer: Steve has served as VP of finance at USF Holland and as CFO for West MI Christian Foundation and Spring Hill Camps. Most recently, Steve served as a VP of Finance at Aquinas College. In addition to serving on Jubilee’s board, Steve is actively engaged with West Michigan organizations including Frederik Meijer Gardens, Bethany Christian Services, The Salvation Army, The Potters House School, and Aquinas College: Angel Investor.
Annalise Kontras, MEd. – Board Secretary: Annalise has her Master´s of education in school leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and her Bachelor´s degree in English and secondary education. She works as the assistant principal in a Boston, MA middle/high school.
Kathy DeJong, MA – Board Officer: Kathy earned her Bachelor’s degree in bilingual education and her Master’s degree in reading. Since 1999, she has been the reading specialist for The Potter’s House Christian School in Grand Rapids, MI. Prior to that, she taught in the Dominican Republic for 15 years.
Erin Griffin, MA – Board Officer: Erin has her Master´s in TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) from Grand Valley State University and her Bachelor´s in Spanish and secondary education from Calvin College. She teaches Spanish at Unity Christian High School in Hudsonville, MI. In the summers, she volunteers teaching English to native Spanish speakers.
Amy Haroff, OTR/L, MA – Board Officer: Amy is an occupational therapist with the spinal cord injury program at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. She also has her Master’s degree in TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) from Cornerstone University. Prior to joining the board, Amy served with Jubilee in Honduras for all of 2015 and part of 2016.
David Romero, BA – Board Officer: David is the co-director and co-founder of Jubilee Centers International. He has his BA in Education and Technical Industry from The National Pedagogy University, Honduras.
Emily Romero, MA – Board Officer: Emily is the co-director and co-founder of Jubilee Centers International. She has her Master´s degree in cross-cultural studies from Fuller Theological Seminary and her Bachelor´s degree in Spanish and international development.
Mark Van Zanten, MEd. – Board Officer: Mark is a co-founding teacher of The Potter’s House Christian School in Grand Rapids, MI where he has taught for 37 years. He holds a Master’s in Education from Calvin College.
